Sheri Urbano
Social Worker
When your child is struggling, finding the right therapist can change everything.
Sheri is one of the most highly reviewed therapists at Brilliant Minds, with over a decade of experience supporting children, teens, adults, and families. Her clients value her ability to build genuine connection and create a space where people feel safe, understood, and supported.
Big emotions, difficult behaviours, anxiety, or the effects of trauma can leave children feeling overwhelmed—and parents wondering what to do next. Sometimes a child needs more than strategies; they need someone they can trust, connect with, and feel truly understood by.
Sheri holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Windsor and has specialized training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based modality that can be highly effective in helping people process and heal from traumatic experiences. She combines these approaches with play, attachment, and strengths-based strategies to meet each client where they are.
Sheri also brings a unique understanding of military and law-enforcement families and the challenges these careers can bring, including separation, demanding schedules, transitions, stress, and the impact of high-pressure work on family life. Having worked in the military herself for four years, she brings personal insight and genuine understanding to the families she supports. She also offers family therapy, helping families strengthen communication, navigate challenges, and build stronger relationships.
Sheri understands that therapy needs to work for the whole family. She offers sessions both in the clinic and in the child’s home, allowing her to work on meaningful goals in the environments where challenges actually happen.
Sheri’s goal is to help children and families move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling more confident, connected, and equipped to handle life’s challenges.
