Stephanie Braun
Social Worker
Big feelings. Little kids. Teen struggles. Even complex trauma—Stephanie knows how to help.
When a child is struggling with anxiety, big emotions, difficult behaviours, or the effects of trauma, it can be hard to know what they need—or how to help. For youth and teens carrying complex PTSD or trauma-related experiences, these challenges can feel especially overwhelming, affecting their emotional regulation, relationships, confidence, and ability to feel safe.
Stephanie provides one-on-one therapy that gives young people a safe place to be heard, understood, and supported without judgment. She helps children and teens make sense of their emotions, develop practical coping and regulation skills, and build confidence in their ability to navigate life’s challenges. She also works closely with parents and caregivers to help them understand what may be happening beneath the behaviour and support their child’s progress at home.
With more than 15 years of experience supporting children, youth, teens, and families, Stephanie brings a deep understanding of the many different ways children can struggle. While she works with children across a wide range of needs, she has extensive experience supporting youth and teens, particularly those navigating complex PTSD, trauma, emotional regulation, anxiety, and relationship challenges.
Her approach is warm, collaborative, trauma-informed, and attachment-based, drawing from CBT, DBT, Play Therapy, and other evidence-informed approaches. Stephanie is a Connect Parent Group Facilitator and Registered Circle of Security Facilitator and has additional training in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST) and Assessing Suicide in Kids (ASK).
Stephanie is also passionate about the therapeutic benefits of creativity and is currently pursuing certification as an Art Therapist, expanding the ways she can help young people express and process experiences that may be difficult to put into words.
Stephanie’s goal is to help each child and young person feel safer, more understood, and more confident in themselves—while helping families move toward stronger connection and healthier relationships.
Outside of work, Stephanie finds a real sense of ease in nature, especially in a forest near water. The quiet of the trees and the sound of a stream or lake help her slow down, breathe, and reconnect with what matters.
