Mishal Javed
Social Worker
Mishal's goal as a therapist is to provide children and youth with a warm, supportive environment to explore, reflect, and learn skills as they work towards their therapeutic goals. She is a registered social worker with experience working with children, youth, and families in community mental health settings. She practices from a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens with training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness, and Parent Management Training.
Some areas in which Mishal offers support include: anxiety, depression, anger outbursts/tantrums, fears/phobias, attention/focus, peer and family relationships, caregiver support, sleep, and stress.
Mishal is experienced and well educated in the area of ADHD and neurodiversity. She has supported many children and families, both diagnosed and suspecting diagnosis.
Additionally, Mishal has specialized training in body image concerns and disordered eating behaviours, and works from an anti–weight bias lens that emphasizes body and food neutrality. When appropriate, Mishal collaborates with your child’s/teen’s physician and/or dietitian to provide therapy focused on supporting emotional well-being, body respect, and a more peaceful relationship with food.
