Cara Stainthorpe

Social Worker

Cara’s approach is calm, caring, and understanding. She aims to create a welcoming and collaborative environment, with some fun too. Cara is a social worker (OCSWSSW) with over a decade of experience supporting individuals, families, and groups in community settings; much of which has focused on supporting children and their caregivers. Cara is also a teacher (OCT) and therapeutic arts practitioner.

Cara practices from a wholistic, person-centred perspective as they work alongside clients to reflect on issues, build upon strengths and develop skills. This may include strengths and needs assessments, as well as co-developing support strategies and plans.

Cara incorporates aspects of multiple therapeutic modalities to explore individual client needs (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Strengths-Based, Therapeutic Arts, etc.). Some issues Cara offers support with include: anxiety, attention/focus, coping skills, co/self-regulation, empathy, family relationships, peer relationships, school related, self-compassion, sensory (seeking, sensitivities, under responsiveness), sleep, stress, and transitions.

If you would like to learn more, Cara offers a free 15 minute consultation and looks forward to talking with you.

Parent(s) participate in the therapeutic process.
